George is a very active member of our community and is always willing to give his time to a good cause. George is a past chair of the Breakthrough Healthcare campaign, a founding member and past chair of the St. Catharines General Hospital Foundation, and a founding member of: The Bereavement Ontario Network, The Bereavement Resource Council of Niagara, Wellspring Niagara (a cancer support center) and the crisis response teams for the separate & public school boards. He is a member and past captain of the St. Catharines Rowing Club, a member of the Salvation Army, Star of the Sea Parish, the Rotary Club of St. Catharines, acting President with International Order of the Golden Rule, a past president of the Niagara District Funeral Service Association and Ontario Funeral Service Association.

George is also the proud father of Gregory, Christopher (Natalie) and Grandfather of Keegan, Conor and Liam. George is married to Dr. Heather Combe, a local veterinarian with Fairview Animal Clinic, and they live with Alicia in St. Catharines.

Gregory became a licenced funeral director in June 2005 and is the fifth generation of Darte funeral professionals.  Gregory sits on the Board and NextGenfor the United Way, Past President of the Niagara District Funeral Service Association, past co-Chair of the 5 Car Draw for Hospice Niagara, member of the St. Catharines Rotary Club and is a parishoner at St. Julia's Church. He is married to his wife Mary Magnotta, who is a Naturopathic Doctor in the city of St. Catharines. He has three nephews Keegan, Conor and Liam. Gregory is also the proud owner of Winston, a Boston Terrier that acts as a comfort dog at the funeral home.

Shirley Proulx, Funeral Director Supervisor

Shirley is a licensed funeral director and cosmetologist.  She has been with George Darte Funeral Chapel since April 1993.  A member of St. Andrew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, volunteer with St. Vincent de Paul Society.  Currently  serves as past president of the Niagara District Funeral Service Association.

Les is a life long resident of Niagara.  Les is devoted to his family and loves to spend time with his wife Luciann and daughters Jordanne & Jessica.  He is active in his community as a member of St. Kevins Catholic Church, Fogolar Furlan Club of Niagara and the Club Champlain Volleyball League.

Krystal Riddell, Funeral Director

Krystal joined the team in 2005, while she was attending Humber College with the desire of becoming a funeral director. She completed her internship with George Darte Funeral Chapel and obtained her Funeral Director's licence. Krystal resides in St. Catharines and is involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada. She also attends St. Alfred's Church and enjoys spending time with her family.

Natalie is a licensed funeral director and celebrant. Holding a strong interest in community involvement, Natalie is the Chair of Instructors and past Community Services Chair of St. John Ambulance, as well as an Instructor and Medical First Responder. She is an active volunteer with Autism Awareness, Community Living, Catholic Women's League, The United Way, a leader with Girl Guides of Canada, sits on Heart & Stroke Council and is part of the Niagara Emergency Planning committee.  In 2009 Natalie was a recipient of a Canadian Order for her volunteerism and community efforts. Natalie is a regular columnist with Senior Care Canada on Volunteerism and "Healing the Living". In her spare time, she enjoys writing, public speaking and theatre.

Mike Bovine, Funeral Director

Mike received his funeral director's license in 2008. He is enthusiastic about his career within funeral services. Now finished his studies at Humber College, he is excited to be back in Niagara close to his family and friends. Mike completed his internship here at the George Darte Funeral Chapel. A lifelong resident of the Niagara Region, Mike attends St. Mary's Catholic Church. He currently holds the position of Secretary for the Niagara District Funeral Service Association. Mike is an avid music and movie fan.
